Craft CMS

Craft is, as the name suggests, a bit of an artisanal CMS - the web developer's choice. It's not as widely known as Wordpress or Drupal but the people who use it respect it greatly. I've worked with it a few times, and I've found it manageable but versatile. Not my choice of base framework, but solid, and I can get by in Yii2.

So I was delighted when it was recently announced that it's switching from Yii2 to Laravel as a base framework in the next major version - that's 6, due to release on the back end of 2026. I'm really looking forward to finding out what the combination of two of my favourite applications comes to, and the introduction of the Craft ecosystem into the Laravel one.

I've been using Craft CMS since Feb 2024 (1 years).
