Rainy Sundays

Rich Gwilliam's digital shed

Rainysundays. It's the ancient Lancashire idiom for "affordable domain name".

This is what I'm calling my "digital shed" which is to say it mostly just exists to hold tools and gizmos. There's a lot going on under the hood, providing functionality that... hopefully you'll never see, but please do feel free to meander around and I'll try and curate some stuff that's worth the visit.

On a more professional level, this site also represents my online portfolio; I'm a contract web developer by trade - LAMP stack, if you're interested; branching out into MySQL, Linux server admin, Laravel, and a fistful of CMSs. If you're in the market please do take a peek at my CV / Portfolio, I've just implemented a neat tag search that should help you find stuff relevant to what you're looking for.

Technologically it's a Laravel based backend that serves up a fairly stolid HTML based platter with progressive JQuery enhancement for the twiddly bits; Vue and React.net are my work-fare a lot of the time, which makes me feel qualified to say that some things are just better not being single-page-applications. (That said I DO have some cool stuff in the works viz-a-viz Vue projects, watch this space.)

It's also sat on a slightly temperamental tiiiiiiiny Amazon EC2 instance - apologies for the load times at present, it's work in progress. I'm starting to think it'd be better running on a Raspberry Pi.
